Roundtable Discussion on ‘India-China Relations’

The Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a Round Table Discussion on ‘India-China Relations: Global, Regional and Bilateral Context’, including the economic issues. The speakers at the Round Table were:- Amb. Ashok Kantha, former Ambassador to China, Lt Gen S L Narasimhan, Member NSAB, Vice Adm Anil Chopra, Member NSAB, Amb. Kanwal Sibal, former Foreign Secretary.

Round Table Discussion on ‘Asia-Africa Growth Corridor’

The Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a Round Table Discussion (RTD) on Asia-Africa Growth Corridor (AAGC), a multilateral initiative with an objective to enhance growth and connectivity between Asia and Africa. It focuses on development cooperation projects, quality infrastructure and institutional connectivity, skill enhancement, and people-to-people partnership. The AAGC initiative emerged from PM’s visit to Japan in 2016, which was again discussed during Shinzo Abe’s visit to India in 2017.

Prof Tai Ming Cheung’s Talk, ‘Understanding China's Progress in the Development of its Defence and Strategic Science, Technology and Innovation Capabilities’

The Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) hosted Prof Tai Ming Cheung, an Associate Professor at the School and Director of the Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC), University of California. Visit of Delegation from the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) to China

A VIF Delegation comprising of Director, Dr. Arvind Gupta, Lt Gen Ravi Sawhney, Ambassador Anil Wadhwa and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) representative at Shanghai, Sh Madhav Sharma, visited China from 16th-18th of July.

Discussion by H.E. Hamza Yahia- Cherif, Algerian Ambassador, on ‘De-radicalisation in Algeria- A Success Story’

The Ambassador recounted as to how the nation’s youth’s efforts to bring constitutional democracy and freedom was diverted by radicalization, and the sufferings that was inflicted by it upon the society. Explaining the mayhem brought about by radical interpretations of Islam, he dwelt upon the Political, Social, Economic and Cultural measures in the process of de-radicalization, at which Algeria was an unqualified success.

Maritime Power through Blue Economy in the Indian context

Preface At the outset, this monograph has sought to resolve the ambiguities in comprehending the oft-used phrase ‘maritime power’. It has established that constituents are those permanent attributes which make a country easier or harder to be at sea. On the other hand enablers of maritime power are its potentials. Thus, long coastline is a constituent and the fishing industry that spawns on the coast is an enabler.

Interaction with the South Korean Delegation

The VIF hosted a delegation from South Korea led by Mr. Lee Jung Deuk. Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director VIF, welcomed and delivered the opening remarks. Lt. Gen. The Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) hosted a delegation from Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) from Hanoi on May 15, 2018.
