ITANAGAR, Apr 16: Rapid development will happen only where there is peace and security said Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen JJ Singh, while inaugurating a two-day national seminar on development and security organized by Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), New Delhi in collaboration with Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture, Arunachal Pradesh here today.In his inaugural address, Gen Singh dwelt in length on development activities in the State.

‘Breaking India – Western Interventions in Dravidian and Dalit Faultlines’a book jointly authored by Rajiv Malhotra, chief of the Princeton based Infinity Foundation and a Distinguished Fellow, Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) and Aravindan Neelakandan, intellectual activist, columnist and popular science writer from Tamil Nadu, was released at VIF auditorium on 9th February, 2011. A galaxy of speakers participated in the discussion on the theme of the book.

FUNCTION TO HONOUR ARMED FORCES MARTYRS

On the eve of Independence Day, a function to honour Armed Forces Martyrs was held at the VIF Auditorium at 1830h on 14 Aug 10. The Keynote Address was delivered by Gen V N Sharma PVSM, AVSM (retd), former Chief of the Army Staff (and younger brother of Maj Somnath Sharma, independent India’s first PVC). He spoke on “The Indian Armed Forces: A Tradition of Honour and Leadership”. The families of Maj Sandeep Unnikrishnan AC (posthumous), Capt Vikram Batra PVC (posthumous) and Capt Vijayant Thapar VrC (posthumous) were felicitated.
