Interactive Session with Korean National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA)

The Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised an interactive session with a visiting delegation from the Korean National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) on November 24, 2022. The talk focussed on the prospects of Republic of Korea-India relations vis-a-vis the recent developments in the Indo-Pacific region.

Interaction with Delegation from the Institute of Political and International Studies IPIS, Iran

On November 11, 2022, the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) had a discussion with a visiting delegation from Iran's Institute of Political and International Studies (IPIS). Dr Arvind Gupta, Director VIF, delivered the introductory remarks, which were followed by a presentation by Amb DB Venkatesh Varma, Distinguished Fellow, VIF. Other VIF experts who participated in this discussion were Amb D P Srivastava, Lt Gen Ravi Sawhney, Amb Pankaj Saran, Amb Sanjay Singh, and Amb Skanbd Tayal, Dr. Mohammad Hassan Sheikholeslami, President of IPIS, lead the Iranian delegation.

Monthly Compilation of Views of VIF Expert Groups: November 2022

In the month of November 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organized a total of seven expert group meetings, two interactive sessions with Ambassador’s from Indonesia and Germany in which they shared their perspective of our bilateral relationship as well as the prevalent geo-political situation. In addition there was a roundtable discussions with the Korean National Diplomatic Academy.

Talk on US Midterm Elections

The Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a talk on “US midterm Elections 2022: Implications for India and the World” on 21 November, 2022. Dr Arvind Gupta, Director, VIF, chaired the session and made welcome remarks. Prof K. P. Vijayalakshmi delivered the talk followed by a discussion by Mr Ashok Malik. Ambassador Anil Wadhwa and Lt. Gen. R.K. Sawhney were also part of the event.

Monthly Compilation of Views of VIF Expert Groups: October 2022

In the month of October 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organized a total of five expert group meetings. This month’s report also contains the newly created Africa expert group’s first meeting discussions. Thus in the last two months the VIF has instituted two new expert groups to capture key areas of focus.

VIF-RIAC Round Table on “Keeping Track of the Ukraine Crisis; New Phase and Progressing Strategic Implications”

The Russian International Affairs Council and Vivekananda International Foundation jointly organised an online Round Table on the Ukraine Crisis and its implications on October 13, 2022. The Round Table was jointly chaired by Dr. Andrey Kortunov, Director General, RIAC and Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director VIF. There was a free flowing discussion on the following issues:- a) Comparing notes on strategic implications of Ukraine crisis. b) Results of high level meetings in Samarkand. c) Russia-India cooperation agenda in the new circumstances.

Talk on “How Ayurveda can Power the Development of a Global Health Culture?”

On 17th November 2022, Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a talk on ‘How Ayurveda can Power the Development of a Global Health Culture?’ by Śri Dr. P. Ram Manohar, Research Director, Amrita School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kollam, Kerala.

Book Discussion on “The Arab Spring That Was and Wasn’t”

The Vivekananda International Foundation organized a book discussion on 18 November on book titled, “The Arab Spring That Was and Wasn’t” authored by Amb. K P Fabian and published by Macmillan Education in June 2022. The discussion was attended by Amb. Anil Trigunayat (Coordinator); Amb.D P Srivastava; Lt. Gen. Gautam Banerjee; Lt. Gen. R K Sawhney and Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director, VIF.

Monthly Compilation of Views of VIF Expert Groups: September 2022

In the month of September 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organized a total of four expert group andone trilateral round table with most of them being hybrid. The month saw the commencement of a new expert group on climate change in which the first discussions was on India and its policies.

Talk on Indo-Indonesia Relations

The Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a talk on “Global and Regional Uncertainty and the Prospects for India-Indonesia Relations” on 10 November, 2022. Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director, VIF, chaired the session and gave welcome remarks. The talk was delivered by Her Excellency Ina Haniningtyas Krishnamurthi, the Indonesian Ambassador to India.
