Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) hosted an Interaction with H.E. Mr. Denis Evgenyevich Alipov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India on June 9, 2022 following a hybrid format. Strategic Discussion | Review of the Russia-Ukraine Conflict

The VIF organized a Strategic Discussion on the Review of the Russia-Ukraine Conflict on 25 March 2022 via hybrid-mode, with some participants joining in via web conferencing while the others attended the discussion physically at the VIF. The discussion was moderated by Dr Arvind Gupta who also delivered the opening remarks. Discussants included Amb. Kanwal Sibal, Amb. Arun K. Singh, Akshay Mathur, Amb. P.S. Raghavan, Gp. Capt. Naval Jagota, Brig. Vinod Anand, Dr. GulshanRai, AM Anil Khosla, Adm. Girish Luthra and Lt. Gen. R. K Sawhney.

Strategic Discussion | Reviewing the Ukraine Crisis

Well over fifteen days into the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the VIF strategic discussions group convened on 15 March 2022 to review the ongoing developments and to deliberate on the future trajectories of the evolving geopolitical situation. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director VIF and was attended by Amb. P.S Raghavan, Lt. Gen. Rakesh Sharma, Lt. Gen. Ravi K. Sawhney, Gen. N.C. Vij and Brig. Vinod Anand.

Vimarsh on Russia-Ukraine Crisis

On 14 March, 2022, the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a Vimarsh on the “Russia-Ukraine Crisis”. The session encompassed a series of introductory remarks by Dr Arvind Gupta, Director VIF, and a talk on the stated theme by Ambassador D. Bala Venkatesh Varma (India’s former Ambassador to the Russian Federation) who focussed especially on the strategic trends and the impact of this ongoing crisis on the world in all the strategic dimensions.

Briefing by RIAC for VIF Experts on the Developments in Ukraine

The Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) organized a briefing for experts at the Vivekananda International Foundation on the recent developments in Russia-West Relations and the escalating situation in and around Ukraine. The welcoming remarks were delivered by Mr. Andrey Kortunov, Director General, RIAC. Russian experts, Dr. Yulia Nikitina, Ms. Ekaterina Chimiris and Mr. Sergey Utkin, presented a Russian vision of the current situation in Ukraine and spoke about the foreseeable scenarios and forecasts for the region at large. VIF-RIAC Discussion on Post Covid Global and Regional Trends and India-Russia Relations

The VIF, in collaboration with the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) organised a virtual discussion on "Post Covid Global and Regional Trends and India-Russia Relations on 23 June. The participants in the discussion included Dr. Arvind Gupta, Andrey Kortunov, Nikolay Kudashev, DB Venkatesh Varma, Amb. Kanwal Sibal, Victoria Panova, Andrey Volodin, Amb. Anil Wadhwa, P.S. Raghavan, Gleb Ivashentsov and Lt. Gen Ravi K Sawhney.

VIF- Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) Conference, Moscow

The theme of the conference was ‘Global Strategy and Foreign Policy Priorities in India-Russia Relations’, wherein various positives and road blocks in bilateral and multilateral were discussed. The discussion also focused on US, China, South Asia and Pakistan, besides the multi-lateral organisations, like the UN, SCO and BRICS.

Interaction with Maxim Shepovalenko, Russian Navy

The VIF invited Capt Maxim Shepovalenko (Retd), Russian Navy, for an interaction on India-Russia relations with emphasis on maritime cooperation. Lt Gen Ravi Sawhney, Dean, Centre for Defence Studies, headed the VIF panel which comprised of Amb D P Srivastava, Brig Vinod Anand and Cmde Gopal Suri, among others. Understandably, defence-industrial cooperation between India and Russia, which has experienced some drag in the recent years, topped the agenda for discussion.

India-Russia 70: VIF-RIAC Bilateral Dialogue and the Way Forward

With India and Russia barely two weeks away from celebrating their 70 years of bilateral ties, the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), in collaboration with Moscow-based think tank Russian International affairs Council (RIAC), held a joint seminar on ‘India-Russia Relations and the Way Forward’ on 30 & 31 March 2017. One of the key objectives of the joint exercise was to seek potentials for broadening the scope of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Among others, the seminar focused on identifying and plugging differences in perceptions on certain key issues.
