On 29 November, 2022, VIF organised a Seminar on ‘The State of Archeology in India (in 2022)’ led by Dr. Dilip Chakrabarty, Professor Emeritus, Department of Archeology, Cambridge University and Distinguished Fellow, VIF. The event was conducted in hybrid mode and was attended by various professors of history from different colleges in Delhi. The event hosted by Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director VIF was also attended by Director General of Archeological Survey of India (ASI), Smt. Vidyavathi and Dr. Alok Tripathi, ADG, Archeology, ASI.

Gītā for Millenia, Ninth Lecture

Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised the ninth session of ‘Gītā for the Millennia’, an online talk series based on Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā by Swāmī Mitrānanda of Chinmaya Mission on November 14, 2022. Swāmiji began the talk with a recap to the previous discussion to bring the flow of the discussion on the 4th chapter of Gītā. He continued explaining the chapter and emphasised and explained the verse 16, 17 and 18 of the chapter. He said these verses are to be considered as triplets as they make sense only when they are read together.

Book Discussion – Iconic Indians: 75 Extraordinary Individuals Who Inspired the Country by Sanjeev Sanyal and Rajesh Singh On 24th November 2022, Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a book discussion on “Iconic Indians: 75 Extraordinary Individuals Who Inspired the Country,” authored by Sanjeev Sanyal and Rajesh Singh. Apart from the authors, the panel consisted of Dr Arvind Gupta, Director VIF (moderator), Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Prerna Gandhi, Associate Fellow VIF.

Vedānta and Nationalism

On 23 November 2022, Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a virtual talk on ‘Vedānta and Nationalism’ by Śrī. Śrīnāth Mohandās, Assistant Professor at the School of Ethics Governance Culture (EGCS) and Social Systems, Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth. Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director, VIF introduced the speaker and mentioned the importance of inculcating nationalism especially among younger generations from a national security angle.

On 10 October 2022, Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a Book Release and Discussion on two books recently published by Aryan Books International and authored by Padmashri Dr. Dilip K. Chakraborty, Professor Emeritus of South Asian Archaeology at Cambridge University & Distinguished Fellow, VIF. Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised the eighth session of ‘Gītā for the Millennia’, an online talk series based on Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā by Swāmī Mitrananda of Chinmaya Mission on September 21, 2022.

India's Contribution to World Thought and Culture (Abridged and Revised Edition)

On the occasion of the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial in 1970, the Vivekananda Kendra Prakashan Trust published a book, India’s Contribution to World Thought and Culture, that contained about 70 articles by well-known experts of Indian history and culture on India’s cultural footprints in Asia and other parts of the world. However, since then, this subject has remained generally neglected. Recognizing the need to revive this topic in public and academic discussions, Vivekananda International Foundation decided to bring out an abridged version of the original volume.

Ranjit Singh was the most adventurous, audacious, and sagacious ruler of the Indian subcontinent since Chandragupta Maurya. Like the Kohinoor he wore, he was a gem among rulers. He rose like a bright and brief firmament when India became a part of the global colonial geopolitics. He abolished the death sentence and created a new empire based on principles of statecraft. In the 1770s, the Punjab was sixty-eight pieces of a wild and prosperous land inhabited by a brutal and querulous people making a living by plunder even as invasion after invasion from the north-west frontier trampled it.

On August 30th, 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation organised a talk titled “The Vedic doctrine of the creative Sacrifice of Purusha and the Christian doctrine of redemptive Sacrifice of Yeshua as the keystones of Hinduism and Christianity” by Prof. Maria Krzysztof Byrski, Professor emeritus of the Warsaw University, Poland. This talk was intended to experiment the ways in which Hinduism and Christianity can come together for a dialogue. Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director, VIF chaired the event and welcomed the speaker and handed over to Prof.
