The Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised an interactive session with a visiting delegation from the Korean National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) on November 24, 2022. The talk focussed on the prospects of Republic of Korea-India relations vis-a-vis the recent developments in the Indo-Pacific region.

The members of the KNDA delegation highlighted the rationale and features of the recently announced Indo-Pacific Strategy by the South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. This strategy is a shift from the balanced diplomacy approach to a new strategic framework that involves active engagement of South Korea in the geopolitics of the region and the world. The talk emphasised that India and South Korea share the same values such as freedom and democracy. Given the geopolitical circumstances, a strategic partnership between the two countries would be crucial in establishing stability, peace, and a rule-based order in the Indo-Pacific region. An exchange of views on India-China border situation, Taiwan, East China Sea, South China Sea, defence, maritime cooperation and other relevant issues also took place during the interaction.
