Hari Babu Srivastava, DSchc, is currently Professor of Practice at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Visiting Professor of Practice at Indian Institutes of Technology Kanpur and Roorkee. He is a former Distinguished Scientist and Director General of Defence Research and Development Establishment. At IITs Delhi, Kanpur and Roorkee, he engages with faculty and research students for development of application specific electronics, photonics and quantum technologies and curriculum. At DRDO, he was responsible for creating defence R&D ecosystem with academia, MSMEs and Startups. During his tenure as Director General Technology Management at DRDO, he established 15 DRDO Industry Academia Centres of Excellence (DIA CoEs), some by converting DRDO’s existing Advanced Technology Centres and many more by establishing new ones. He was also responsible for many new policy approval of DRDO, like DRDO Chairs in IITs and Universities, Defence R&D through NRIs/OCIs/Foreign Nationals, DRDO’s Technology Foresight for defence R&D by academia and industry, DRDO-Think Tank dialogues etc. In addition, in his other capacities as Director General Systems Analysis and Modeling, Laboratory Director, Corporate Director and research scientist, he made significant contribution in technology assessment and development, system development, integration and interfacing in weapon platforms, field evaluation etc. Besides internal DRDO reports, he has publications in scientific journals and Economic Times. His areas of interest include photonics, control system, electro-optical fire control and surveillance technologies and policies for a vibrant defence R&D ecosystem in the country.
