Arun K. Singh was India’s Ambassador to the United States (2015-2016), France (2013-2015) and Israel (2005-2008). He was also involved for nearly a decade in the formulation and implementation of India’s policies related to Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran, including in the period following 9/11. His other tours of duty have included Moscow, Tokyo, Addis Ababa, and Indian Mission to UN in New York.

Currently, he is a Member of India’s National Security Advisory Board; Visiting Professor at Ashoka University (India); and a Distinguished Non-Resident Senior Fellow in the Asia Program at the Washington DC based German Marshall Fund of the US. In the spring of 2017, he taught courses on US Foreign Policy in South Asia and Current Global Trends and Challenges at both American University and the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC, and was a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Center for Advanced Study of India at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a Halle Distinguished Fellow at Emory University (Atlanta, Georgia, US) from January 2017 to August 2021.
