A delegation team of 32 Myanmar officials on Tuesday arrived in Cox’s Bazar to interview Rohingya refugees in a bid to start the long-stalled plan to return the persecuted minority to their homeland. Among the delegation team, there are 11 Rohingya citizens in their trawler. Earlier, the Myanmar delegation visited Bangladesh in two rounds on March 15 and May 25. Nepal and China welcomed the successful opening of the Lizi-Nechung port near the Tibet border, as per the joint statement issued during Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s visit to China in late September. Sri Lanka has announced a rise in goods and services tax after the IMF held back a loan tranche due to the country’s failure to meet revenue targets. The tax increase is necessary to boost state revenue and unblock the loan instalment.
