Xi stresses developing traditional Chinese medicine: China Daily

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has called for efforts to further develop traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Xi made the remarks during an inspection tour of Nanyang city in central China's Henan province, where he visited a memorial facility dedicated to Zhang Zhongjing, a famous Chinese pharmacologist and physician of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220), and a local company producing mug work products on Wednesday.

Japanese, US and French troops kicked off their joint military drills Tuesday in Japan's Kyushu region. The drills include fighter jets and amphibious operation exercises. Japan also announced that a joint military exercise between Japan, the US, France and Australia is scheduled in the East China Sea to coordinate with the land exercises of the above-mentioned three countries. The purpose of the exercise is to pressure China and send a signal that the US and Japan could bring more allies together to contain China.

The Democratic Progressive Party authorities of the island of Taiwan must be jittery. President Juan Orlando Hernandez of Honduras, one of the 15 remaining "diplomatic allies" of Taiwan, said on Tuesday the Central American country could open a trade office in the Chinese mainland in a bid to acquire COVID-19 vaccines. The move has worried Taiwan authorities who believe Honduras may get close to the mainland and abandon Taiwan.
