'Friends not masters': FM Qureshi assures Afghanistan of complete support for peace process: DAWN

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday assured Afghanistan of Pakistan's complete support for the Afghan peace process, stating that Islamabad wanted to be "friends not masters". The foreign minister was speaking at a conference at the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad alongside the chairman of Afghanistan's High Council for National Reconciliation Dr Abdullah Abdullah. Blast in Daikundi Kills 14 Civilians: Interior Ministry: TOLO News

At least 14 civilians were killed in a roadside bomb explosion in Kijran district in the central province of Daikundi on Tuesday morning, according to a statement by the Interior Affairs Ministry. The bomb targeted a bus carrying civilians in Dasht-e-Sulaiman village, said Tariq Arian, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior Affairs. Flood situation deteriorates in Ganges, Brahmaputra basins: Dhaka Tribune

The overall flood situation in the Ganges and Brahmaputra basins have deteriorated further with inundation of fresh low-lying areas and standing crops in the Brahmaputra basin during the last 24 hours. Of the 16 river points both in Ganges and Brahmaputra Basins, being monitored in many districts under Rajshahi division regularly, water levels increased at 15 points, while declined at one point. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli met survivors of acid attacks and activists demanding harsher penalties against perpetrators twice this month within a span of 10 days. Soon, words were out from the Prime Minister’s Office that laws to discourage such attacks would be formulated. President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Monday authenticated three ordinances—Acid and Other Fatal Chemicals (Regulation) Ordinance 2020, Ordinance to Revise some provisions in Criminal Codes and Criminal Procedure, and Nepal Police and Provincial Police (Operation, Coordination and Supervision) Act.
