Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered an inquiry into the sugar scam and reaffirmed that anyone involved in it would not be spared. Human traffickers go unpunished as cases pile up at tribunals: Dhaka Tribune

A majority of human traffickers are now on the loose as thousands of cases have piled up at the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunals across the country. At the same time, a low conviction rate in these cases has been depriving victims of justice by allowing these traffickers to evade punishment. Myanmar leaders to run in November polls: Myanmar Times

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will contest this year’s elections, the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) announced on June 9, in a vote that many see as a referendum on the NLD’s performance in the past five years. President U Win Myint will also contest the polls, which are set for November, said Monywa Aung Shin of the party’s information committee. Prez reviews plans for restructuring education system: Daily Mirror

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has taken up for review the status of the National Education Policy currently being formulated, the Presidential Media Division said. It said the Members of the Presidential Task Force on Sri Lankan Education updated the President on the current status of the formulation of the National Education Policy at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday. The President stressed the significance of the new policy as it should be formulated in such a manner to be acceptable to everyone since it would affect the country and the future generations.
