Iran said on Monday that the Afghan Taliban have visited Tehran for a second round of peace talks in just a few days aimed at bringing an end to 17 years of conflict. Nepal’s trade deficit widened to Rs569.50 billion in the first five months of the fiscal year as imports of oil, construction materials, machinery, automobiles, electric appliances and airplane parts soared, according to Trade and Export Promotion Centre statistics. These products accounted for 49 percent of the country’s total import bill. According to the Trade and Export Promotion Centre, the trade deficit increased 35.5 percent year-on-year. As per the trade facilitation body, the trade deficit reached Rs115.03 billion last month (mid-November to mid-December). Prime Minister Narendra Modi called his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina today and conveyed his heartiest congratulations on her party's decisive victory in the parliamentary elections. The Ministry of External Affairs said that PM Modi has expressed confidence that the partnership between India and Bangladesh will continue to flourish under Sheikh Hasina's "far-sighted" leadership.
