Interaction with Bangladesh Delegation

A delegation of 17 young Members of Bangladesh Parliament interacted with the VIF faculty covering a wide gamut of bilateral issues. While acknowledging India’s interest in generation of many infrastructure development and small development projects, they suggested that India could continue to contribute to the growing economy of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Tariqat Federation Party Delegation’s visit to the VIF

VIF hosted an interaction with a three-member delegation of Bangladesh Tariqat Federation Party (BTF) and members of the Awami league led 14 party alliance. The discussions centred around the trend of a particular section of Bangladesh’s polity attempting to move the narrative further right, while the other section would not only wish to arrest that trend but also promote a secular fabric which is inclusive and representative of entire Bangladesh.

Interaction with Mr. AKM Chowdhury of Bangladesh Nationalist Party

A Roundtable interaction with Mr. AKM Chowdhury, former minister of Commerce and a ranking leader of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was organised at Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) on June 8, 2018.

Round Table Discussion on India-Bangladesh Relations

Following up on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s highly successful and ‘historic’ visit to India undertaken in the month of April, the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a Round Table Discussion (RTD) on 06 Jun 2017 with Dr. Gowher Rizvi, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on international relation.

Interaction with Amb Tariq Karim, Bangladesh’s former Ambassador to India

Amb Tariq Karim, Bangladesh’s former High Commissioner to India and a Distinguished Fellow at the VIF, delivered a talk on some of the recent developments in Bangladesh on. He broadly dwelt upon the Islamic State (IS) factor in Bangladesh, the upcoming elections and the trajectory of Indo-Bangladesh relations should there be a change in government of Bangladesh. The Talk was followed by an interactive session. Amb Satish Chandra, Lt Gen Ravi Sawhney and Amb Veena Sikri, among others, interacted with the speaker.

Interaction with Bangladesh Jatiyo Party Delegation

A seven-member delegation of Bangladesh Jatiyo Party, led by Mr Ziauddin Ahmed (Bablu), Member of Parliament and former advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh visited the VIF.

Round Table Discussion on Bangladesh

A Round Table Meet on ‘Developing Counter Narrative to Radicalization: Bangladesh Experience’ was held at Vivekananda International Foundation, New Delhi, on the 11th of November, 2016. Visiting expert from Bangladesh, Lt. Col. (Retd.), Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir, recipient of Swadinata Padak, Bangladesh’s highest civilian award and author of several books, was the key speaker.
