The Chinese delegation stated that India and China relations were at a positive stage and it is an opportune time to explore areas cooperation. The members of the delegation reiterated that since China has achieved a considerable amount of experience in shipbuilding. India should start considering collaboration in this sector.
The Indian participant highlighted that the shipbuilding industry in India is still growing. India has an issue of shallow drafts on the western coast. Ships built by China actually require large drafts. However, in India’s eastern coast drafts are relatively deeper. There is also a potential of cooperation in marine technology and marine economy.
