Introduction
On January 2, 2016, a group of four to six well trained Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists launched an audacious attack on the Pathankot Air Base in Punjab. In an operation that continued over the next four days, all the five terrorists were killed by the security forces (Ojha 2016). Seven security personnel and one civilian were also killed and 28 injured. Initially, Pakistan based United Jihad Council claimed responsibility for the incident but soon it was confirmed that the terrorists belonged to JeM, with operational trail leading right up to the Bahawalpur based top leadership of the organisation (National Investigation Agency 2016).
