Geopolitics with great power rivalries is redefining global economic and trade exchanges. The rise of China which markedly defines today’s international order is often attributed to its skills as the world’s leading practitioner of geoeconomics. The Global North that was the main driver of the international liberal order and the global economy is increasingly turning into a demographic minority. The Global South, for its part, with its rapidly growing population, has made significant strides economically. In 2024, the BRICS countries will have a 35% share of the world's GDP, while the G7 countries have a 30% share. In this podcast, Prof Vaidyanathan, Former Professor of Finance, IIM Bangalore and Member, VIF Advisory Council discusses the current global economic situation and opportunities and challenges for India ahead.
