Union Minister Ashwin Vashnav said that Pakistan is not a threat now and terrorism in form shall not be tolerated. The lives of our citizens are our uppermost concern.

Senior Maoist leader and Central Committee Member TLN Chalam was killed in an encounter in Bijapur district. Separately, as many as 17 banned Maoist party members surrendered before Bhadradri Kothagudem police and Central Reserve Police Force personnel.

Another senior Maoist leader of the rank of State Committee Member was killed in an encounter in National Park Area of Chhattisgarh. With this the security forces shall further penetrate Abuj Mad, gain control over the area, thus eliminating a number of top leadership and several hundreds of armed guerrillas. Over two tonnes of explosives looted by the Maoists have been recovered by Jharkhand police.

Eight Maoists, including Telangana State Committee Member Mailarapu Adelu, was gunned down in an encounter in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. At least 700 Maoists have surrendered in Maharashtra. Separately, 17 Maoists have surrendered in Telangana. Seven more Maoists surrendered in Chhattisgarh. Four Maoists were killed in Madhya Pradesh in what was earlier known as Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh (MMC) Division. Explosives looted earlier by Maoists in Odisha have been quickly recovered.

A huge arms cache was seized in Manipur. Several automatic rifles and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered and other material was recovered. Fugitive and Chief of United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent) Paresh Batuah was charge sheeted by the Nation Investigation Agency in pending case relating to organising an explosion on Independence Day, August 15, 2025. Shoot-at-sight orders have been issued in Dhubri, Assam, following repeated acts of provocation and communal riots after Bakr Eid.

An espionage ring was unearthed and raids at 15 locations across various States. Arms trafficking racket has been busted in Punjab. Kashmiri Pandits said at a meeting that the two issues of genocide and a separate homeland for them in the Valley was their high priority and they are non-negotiable. The National Investigation Agency has conducted raids across five locations in activities related to espionage on behalf of Pakistan.

Arms trafficking network has been busted in Punjab. Narcotics worth rupees one crore was seized in Hyderabad. Separately in Assam, narcotics worth Rs 50 crore were recovered in Assam. Cybercrime rate has recorded a decline in Telangana State.

The prime accused in the ghost SIM racket in Assam has been arrested. Cybercrime has declined in Telangana.

Maoist CCM Chalam killed in encounter

A senior Maoist commander who was a Central Committee Member (CCM) was killed in an encounter in the National Park area of Bijapur, on June 5, 2025. The deceased has been identified as Narasimha Chalam alias Sudhakar, 67, in-charge of the Maoist ideological training school (RePOS).[1] An AK -47 rifle was recovered beside his body. Sudhakar's death came just a week after the elimination of CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju.

Mr P Sundarraj, Inspector General of police (Bastar range) said, “Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of senior Maoist leaders and cadres in the region, a joint team comprising personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) launched targeted operation on June 5, 2025 inside the remote forest of Indravati National Park. During the operation, security forces engaged in an encounter, resulting in the death of Sudhakar.”

Senior Maoist leader killed

In a continuing crackdown, security forces gunned down a senior CPI (Maoist) functionary from Telangana in an encounter near Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, on June 6, 2025. The slain cadre was identified as Mailarapu Adelu, known by his aliases Bhaskar, Jangu Dada, and Mahesh—a key figure within the outlawed group. Bhaskar served as a Telangana state committee member and secretary of the Mancherial–Kumuram Bheem-Asifabad (MKB) divisional committee, a crucial zone for Maoist operations in Telangana. Six others were also killed in the encounter.

Seven hundred Maoists surrender in Maharashtra

In what has come as a huge success to combat Naxalism, more than 700 outlawed Maoist cadres have surrendered and joined the mainstream and leading normal lives. The surrender-cum-rehabilitation has come into force since 2005.[2] The Centre, which has set a deadline of March 31, 2026 to end Naxalism and the states from where the Red Corridor passes, has appealed for the CPI (Maoist) cadres to lay down their arms. The policy has been evolved, keeping in mind the specific geographical and social landscape to help those Naxalites who want to abjure violence, surrender, and join the mainstream. During 2024-2025 some 700 Maoists have surrendered in Maharashtra.

Seventeen Maoists surrender in Telangana

Unidentified armed members, numbering 17, of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) found moving in surrendered to the authorities Bhadadri Kothagudem district, Telangana.[3] The death of 31 Maoists in encounters across various areas, including the Karregutta hillocks, in 2024 should serve as an example for more surrender local authorities said. Telangana will never be allowed to serve as a haven for Maoist activities, they added.

Seven Maoists surrender in Chhattisgarh

Seven Maoists, two of them carrying cash rewards on their heads, surrendered in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. The cadres turned themselves in before police and CRPF officials citing disappointment at the growing differences within the outlawed CPI-Maoist, the harsh forest life and the movement’s hollow ideology.[4] The surrendered cadres also said they were impressed by the police's rehabilitation drive ‘Lon Varratu’ (return home) in the district and the state government’s new surrender and rehabilitation policy, the official added.

Maoists killed in Madhya Pradesh

At least four Maoists, three of them women, have been killed in an ongoing encounter between security forces and Maoists in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district, on June 14, 2025, police said. Madhya Pradesh’s anti-Maoists Hawk Force Commandant Shiyaz K.M. said that the encounter was under way in the Pachamdadar and Katejhiriya areas of the Sonewani forest area. He said a search operation was launched in multiple parts of the district’s dense forest areas based on inputs from the Maoist movement. “Combing efforts are going on in multiple areas and the encounter will continue at least till tomorrow (June 15, 2025),” he said, adding that heavy rains in the area had made the operation more challenging.

Explosives looted by Maoists recovered

Security forces, June 2, 2025, Monday recovered over 2.5 tonnes of explosive materials looted by Maoists in Odisha’s Sundergarh district, a senior police officer said. The security personnel of the State’s Special Operation Group (SOG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jharkhand’s elite Jaguar force and Sundergarh’s District Voluntary Force (DVF) during a joint operation in Odisha-Jharkhand border, recovered more than 2.5 tonnes of explosives which was looted earlier by Maoists from K Balang area of Sundergarh district.

Arms trafficking network busted

Punjab Police has unearthed an illegal arms smuggling racket with the arrest of three people and recovery of six sophisticated foreign-made weapons, smuggled from across the border. The recovered weapons include two Glock 19X pistols, two .30 bore pistols, one .30 bore Star Mark pistol and one Beretta .30 bore Pistol. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were working under the directions of Jugraj Singh.[5]

NIA searches 15 locations for espionage

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted a massive search operation at 15 locations in eight states across the country in a Pakistan-linked espionage case. Searches were conducted at the premises of suspects linked with Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) in the states of Delhi, Maharashtra (Mumbai), Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Assam and West Bengal.[6] NIA teams have seized several electronic gadgets and sensitive financial documents, along with other incriminating materials, during the searches.[7] These are being extensively examined for clues to the espionage racket being run by Pakistan-based operatives as part of an anti-India terror conspiracy.

Addressing genocide key issue: Kashmir Pandits

Reiterating that addressing the issue of genocide and carving out of a separate homeland within Kashmir Valley is core issue for lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits who were hounded out of the Valley by Pakistan sponsored terrorism in 1989 and 1990, the community activists, prominent leaders and intellectuals who met here today made it amply clear that there will be no compromise on these two basic issues.[8] This was a general view in a meeting organised by Panun Kashmir (PK) here, today to debate and discuss the current socio-political scenario impacting the fate and future of the displaced community of Kashmir.

Pakistan not a threat now; Union Minister Vaishnav

Union Minister for Railways and Information & Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnav said Pakistan is not a threat now, terrorism is not acceptable in any form and Indian citizens across the world feel secure and these are the changes that have happened in the country during last 11 years of Narendra Modi Government.

Addressing a press conference here in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president and Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda and Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on completion of 11 years of Narendra Modi Government at the Centre, Vaishnav said nobody would have thought that Article 370 (granting special status to erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir) can be abrogated but the Government did it.

Paresh Baruah charge sheeted

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charge sheeted three persons including banned outfit United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA -I) chief Paresh Baruah for being part of a conspiracy to carry out multiple IED blasts in Assam on August15, 2024, (Independence Day).[9] Baruah, along with Abhijit Gogoi alias Abhijeet Gogoi and Jahnu Boruah alias Arnob Asom alias Huntu, has been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and the Explosive Substances Act in a court in Guwahati.

Huge arms cache seized in Manipur

In a joint operation, Manipur police along with central agencies, recovered a massive cache of arms and ammunitions from the outskirts of five valley districts of Manipur during midnight raids, authorities said.[10] Based on specific inputs, the teams of state police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Indian Army and Assam Rifles recovered 328 firearms and over 7,000 ammunitions from Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal districts. Also “During the intervening night of June 13 and June 14, 2025, on receipt of specific intelligence regarding the presence of a large cache of arms and ammunition stashed in different areas of valley districts, a joint team launched an operation in five valley districts,” said Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo, ADGP, Manipur Police.

Shoot-at-sight ordered in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on June 13, 2025, visited Dhubri district following a spate of communal disturbances and announced a shoot-at-sight at night order to curb further unrest.[11] This decision comes in the wake of repeated acts of provocation, including the alleged finding of a severed cow head near a Hanuman temple, inflammatory posters, and incidents of stone pelting during the night. “Since Bakri Eid, Dhubri has seen a disturbing rise in communal incidents,” the Chief Minister said. “Stone pelting at night has become frequent, and provocative posters by an organisation named Nabin Bangla, seeking to merge Dhubri with Bangladesh, were pasted in sensitive areas, even on Army installations” 38 people were arrested in the context.[12]

Narcotics seized in Hyderabad

The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), on June 1, 2025, arrested a Nigerian national in Sainikpuri, Hyderabad, seizing 150 grams of high-purity cocaine, branded in drug circles as ‘celebrity cocaine’, along with 1,100 ecstasy pills.[13] The total street value of the seizure is pegged at Rs 1.25 crore. The accused, identified as Emmanuel Bediako alias Maxwell, 34, is part of a larger West African drug cartel operating across India, said the Director of the Bureau, Sandeep Shandilya.

“He entered the country using fake identities and forged passports, and had been operating primarily from Goa before moving to Hyderabad in a bid to expand the cartel’s network. Maxwell’s history in India spans three separate stints, starting in 2013”.

Huge narcotics haul recovered in Assam

Police have seized drugs worth over Rs 50 crore in Sribhumi and Cachar districts of the Barak Valley. Sribhumi SSP PP Das informed that based on an intelligence input, an anti-narcotics operation was conducted at Veterbond area under Ratabari Police Station, June 12, 2025.[14] One vehicle bearing registration number AS 11/EC 5747, which was coming from Mizoram, was intercepted and subsequent search led to the recovery of 44,000 YABA tablets. Five persons have been arrested in this connection and the value of the seized contraband is estimated to be Rs 6.5 crore in the black market. In another operation carried out at Kaliganj area of the district on Wednesday, 29,600 YABA tablets were seized from a vehicle. One person has been apprehended and further legal action is underway, SSP Das added.

Cybercrime declined in Telangana

Telangana reported an 11 per cent decrease in cybercrime cases in the first four months of the year (2025), in contrast to an increase of 28 per cent last year during the same period.[15] Shikha Goel, Director, Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), attributed the reduction to awareness, data-driven enforcement and prompt action. “The bureau credits this progress to a combination of public awareness initiatives, proactive investigations, and strategic operations powered by data analytics and inter-agency collaboration,” said Shikha Goel.

Ghost SIM racket accused held

A prime accused in an inter-state racket, which provided SIM cards to cybercriminals including Pakistan nationals for opening WhatsApp accounts to dupe people, has been arrested by Assam Police, an official statement said on June 1, 2025.[16] The accused was apprehended by the Special Task Force (STF) of the state police force from Dhubri under ongoing ‘Operation Ghost SIM’. The operation was conducted based on input provided by Gajraj Corps Military Intelligence.
