Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) announced that discussions are ongoing with Turkmenistan over the roadmap to begin work on the TAP (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan) Power Transmission Project in Afghanistan. According to company officials, Turkmenistan has committed to implementing the project, and once completed, Afghanistan will annually receive between 300 to 350 megawatts of electricity, in addition to earning around $100 to $150 million in transit fees. The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said that in the bidding process for the sale of precious and semi-precious stones from Nuristan, kunzite and beryl stones from the Mawi mine in Du Ab district were sold for over 42 million afghani. According to a new report by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), about four million children in Afghanistan are deprived of education. The lack of adequate educational infrastructure, clean water, sanitary facilities, and qualified teachers—particularly female teachers—has been cited as the main reasons for this deprivation.
